Scouting for backcountry

Tally and Seamus strike a pose in the Uintas near the Ridge Yurt in the Bear River Country.

Up the East Fork of the Meeks Dam area.

Tally and Seamus rode along with me to scout out the Bear River Yurt system.  I have reservations in April.

Had some time to get out look for some good, safe backcountry ski terrain over the holidays.  Got near some good potential runs here, but ran out of time to really explore them much.

Took the sleds from Meeks Dam to Bear River Lodge and stayed there a couple of days.  There is some great cross country skiing in the area.

There is also some good backcountry, I'm told.  It looked like it too up around this area.

Lunch break up the Henry's Fork on New Years Eve Day.

Great, toasty spot for lunch.

Great backcountry potential.  Stay tuned.

Lyman Lake lodge- open to use for all- maintained by LDS church with permits from the FS.  Pretty interesting.  Might make a good base for skiing around Elizabeth Ridge.

View across Lyman lake from the lodge.

Back in Wyoming (most of the good stuff is in Utah... only accessible through Wyoming though).

Skiing up the Henry's Fork.  Kings Peak looming overhead.

Fall in the Uintas

Fall in the Uintas

Took a weekend and did some deer hunting close to home this fall with Seamus.  Saw some beautiful country.

An unusually warm day in November made for some great mountain biking.  Dodge got to run off the leash for the first time.  He did great!

Found a cool trail along a pipeline.  Has potential.

Off leash... being obedient.

The view from one of my Saturday morning runs  (2 mile/ 1100 for climb to get. there).

Deer hunter.

Dad and Chris came up for some November cow elk hunting.  Good times!  No elk though.
